Cultural, educational, travel, and sports game exchange will open the door to and from North Korea wider

What is "Hard Power"?

"It is a coercive approach to international political relations, one that involves the use of military and economic power to influence or control the behavior or interests of other states or political groups."

I do not want another war in Korean Peninsula. Korea had already suffered a horrible and tragic war.
Do Koreans want another war?
Do Americans want to be involved in Korean War again?

If Kim Jong Un makes a reckless decision, it will be the last decision he can make before he dies.
If there should be a war in Korea again, it will be the fastest way for Korea to be united.

What is "Soft Power"?

"It is the ability of a country to persuade others to do what it wants without force.
It is a persuasive approach to international political relations, involving the use of nation's cultural, historical and diplomatic influence."

Is there any peaceful way for Korea to be in good harmony or to be unified?

What kinds of "Soft Power" can we imagine in relations between the USA and North Korea as well as South Korea and North Korea?

The door to North Korea will be open wider through cultural exchange, educational exchange, travel exchange, and sports game exchange.

Cultural exchange, educational exchange, travel exchange, and sports game exchange will provide a lot of chances to be in good harmony and create peaceful atmospheres.

Sports games, Mass Media, Internet Access, Movies, Television dramas, Music, Books will have a great influence on changing the mind of North Korean people.

The problem is that it is not easy to find any practical ways to start the two-way exchange with North Korea.
Kim Jong Un and North Korean regime are afraid of the possibility that if information about the outside world flows into North Korea, North Korean citizens and North Korean military elites will finally overturn North Korean regime.

BBC broadcasting, sending radios and USBs are just one-way communication between North Korea and the outside world.
It has its limits, but it is a very important movement at this moment and one of the practical ways to let North Korean people know about the outside the word.

North Korean regime blocks off all the internet access to and from the outside world. North Korean people are like blind frogs in a small well. Their world is surrounded by walls.

Are the walls too high to climb up?
I do not think so.  North Koreans have their eyes blindfolded so that they do not know how high the walls are.
This is the reason why we are sending USBs, Radios, and Broadcasting to North Korea.

Is it safe to visit North Korea?
No!
Many ordinary North Korean people must be also warmhearted and kind to foreign travelers, but Kim Jong Un and his North Korean regime look foreign travelers in a different way.

2018 Winter Olympic Games will be held in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
I hope North Korean team attend the Winter Olympic Games.

I hope cultural exchange, educational exchange, travel exchange, and sports game exchange open the door to and from North Korea wider.

Is it possible someday?
When is it possible?

Another strategy for reunification of Korea

I came across this study presented by Bruce Bennet of the RAND corporation suggesting that unification of Korea might be achieved by convincing the North Korean elite that unification would not be bad for them.

https://www.rand.org/about/people/b/bennett_bruce.html

The idea is that by first identifying what their main concerns would be in reunification and then offering solutions to those concerns, might incentivise them to be more favorable towards unification. this might help to undermine the existing regime eventually causing regime collapse.

Keep in mind also that the RAND corporation is a united states government affiliated think tank that tends to influence foreign policy as they have access to government policy makers. it is a creation out of the u.s. soviet cold war era thinking up strategies against the so called soviet nuclear threat.
I've heard that it is actually responsible for the military industrial complex (war industry) we have today in the United States.

I just present this article as food for thought. it doesn't advocate a violent solution in this case. just something different.

A lot of reading but here is a snip of the summary and the link to the pdf which you can download

A non-profit organization has sent to North Korea 1000 USBs in a big balloon

A non-profit organization has sent to North Korea 1000 USBs in a big balloon to inform North Koreans of the outside world and problems of North Korean regime.

Mr. Mark Sleet, a volunteer of NKinUSA (North Korean Refugees in the USA) participated in sending USBs to North Korea.
He is a volunteer writer in the blog (usandnorth.blogspot.com) for North Korean refugees.

Do you also want to participate in "Flash Drive For Freedom", please visit the following website.

The USBs will be used to shut up Kim Jong Un's mouth and let North Korean people speak for freedom.

China does not want North Korea to threat the world peace either.
What is the next choice of North Korea?
China is the last friend to North Korea.
What would happen if North Korea neglect the opinions of China?
President Moon insisted in the UN Speech that peace in Korean Peninsula is the most important thing to keep.

If North Korea continues to behave recklessly, then North Korea will be destroyed.

If North Korea continues to behave recklessly, then North Korea will be destroyed.  This is not warning. America is ready to take actions.
A war between America and North Korea will be like a fight between a big young lion and a small old cat.
Who is going to win?

Kim Jong Un is spending money to develop nuclear weapons while North Korean people are suffering from disease.
South Korea decided to provide 8 million dollar medicines to North Korea to protect children and pregnant women from disease.
I understand that humanity comes first!

Conflicts caused by North Korea's nuclear weapons might advance the unification of Korea.

If Kim Jong Un tries to attack America, it will be a disaster to him. If Kim Jong Un makes a mistake, then it will be a good chance for Korea to be unified.

A Letter to Kim Jong Un of North Korea from Jin Hye Jo, President of NKinUSA (North Korean Refugees in the United States)

A Letter to Kim Jong Un of North Korea from Jin Hye Jo, President of NKinUSA (North Korean Refugees in the United States)

Mr. Kim Jong Un!

You may not read this letter.
This letter will not be able to reach to you.
I am writing this letter with hope that you read this letter someday.

I want to think at this moment that you are not the worst dictator nor the leader of North Korea, but just an ordinary man.

I can write a true and honest letter to you after I consider you an ordinary man.

Mr. Kim Jong Un! You can do anything you want to do in North Korea.
You can order people in North Korea to song for you even though they do not want to.
You can order North Koreans to watch movies about you even though they do not want to.
You can order anyone North Koreans not to go to where they want to go.
You can order people in North Korea to work only for you without paying any money to them.
You can let North Korean people die of hunger or order them to eat whatever you want to provide.
You can send North Korean people to labor prisons or execute them if you want to.
You can start a war and threat the world peace by attacking them with nuclear weapons.

But there is one thing you can not do no matter how you try to.
You cannot change the mind of those who hate you.

You want to keep your hundreds of statues, fake historic spots and documents remain to hide your horrible crimes forever.

But you have to remember this.

You will be remembered as the most horrible and cruel criminals in the world history, because it is true that you committed such crimes.

Mr. Kim Jong Un! You can make a decision.
You can stop committing crimes and you have the key to make the divided Korea into one unified country.
You can step down from the power and ask forgiveness for what you have done to North Koreans.

I understand you are afraid of this decision.
You may regret to make such a decision.

But be courageous and abandon regret.
You will be saved from falling into hell.

This is the last chance for you to repent all the crimes that your families have committed.

Save North Korean Refugees Day

This Friday, September 22nd

At least spare a thought for the North Korean people and the refugees hiding in china.

the article below mentions a family of five North Koreans who chose to take their lives after being discovered in china and held in preparation for deportation back to North Korea.
this alone should tell you what the so called North Korean leadership is all about when people are so afraid of what awaits them on return to their homeland.

i've been reading that kim jong un is really cracking down on cell phone use and defections but i think his days are numbered.

lots of informative reading in this article and links to other articles.

starving north korean kids probably taken back in the early 2000's but still happening today.

and this is what they can become if given a chance

Yeomni Park. escaped north Korea in 2009. now a human rights activist.

Eunsun Kim. now living in Seoul and advocating for north Koreans. showing south Koreans that she is up to the task.

Joseph Kim. escaped to the united states and advocates for the plight of north Koreans.

Jinhye (far left) and Grace Jo (far right). escaped to the united states in 2008 and now raise awarness for north Korean human rights and help north Korean refugees to get out of china and help resettle if they make it to the united states.

If North Koreans have free I phone and get access to free Wifi, they can overthrow Kim Jong Un.

If North Koreans have free I phone and get access to free Wifi, then they will soon realize North Korean regime is not strong enough to last long.

North Korean people will be confident enough to think that they can overthrow Kim Jong Un after they know about the world through I Phone and Wifi.

North Korean regime cuts off all the internet access to the world because they are afraid of the enlightenment of North Korean people.
How long North Korean regime can last?

Petition calling to the united states senate to pass these bills..

I don't put much faith in government and think we would all be better off without it but it dosn't hurt to sign it for what it's worth.
it might get the senate to move on these acts. the first one being the most important in my view.
i've signed mine.

found this on NKfreedom.org

North Korean Human Rights Reauthorization Act:

The legislation addresses U.S policy on issues including radio broadcasting into North Korea, humanitarian assistance to North Koreans within and outside of the DPRK, and North Korean eligibility for refugee status in the United States.

Banking Restrictions involving North Korea (BRINK) Act:

"would require the President to impose sanctions on institutions that are making this possible... Specifically, the financial institutions that clear the transactions that allow, expecially Chinese businesses, to do the business with North Korea that keeps that regime afloat."

North Korea State Sponsor of Terrorism Designation Act:

H.R. 479 would require the Department of State to determine whether to designate the government of North Korea as a state sponsor of terrorism and to submit that determination to the Congress. To make such a designation, the department would consider the involvement of the North Korean government in supporting terrorist acts and terrorist groups. On the basis of costs for similar requirements, CBO estimates that implementing the bill would cost less than $500,000 over the 2018-2022 period; such spending would be subject to the availability of appropriated funds.

There is some good information here and lots of links to follow up on

North Korean learned a lesson from the Unification of Vietnam in the wrong way.

North Korean learned a lesson from the Unification of Vietnam in the wrong way. North Korea wants to follow the exact same way how Vietnam was unified.

This is what happened in Vietnam. Vietnam and the USA held a peace talk in Paris in 1973. According to the peace talk, US Military left Vietnam.  After US Military left Vietnam, North Vietnam attacked South Vietnam.

Is this what North Korea wants?

This is impossible!

North Korean people will not follow Kim Jong Un just like the way how Vietnamese people followed Ho Chi Min. Many North Korean people do not respect Kim Jong Un even though he rules North Korea by horror.

It has been 27 years since Germany was unified.

South Korea must be well prepared for the economic balance between North Korea and South Korea after the unification.

The first step toward Korea's unification is to change the mind of ordinary North Korean people.

North Korean people must understand it is much better for them to live in the unified Korea. If they are afraid of the unified Korea and if they do not want the unified Korea, then the unification of Korea is getting more and more difficult.
